DURING MY TIME AT MARCHESA, I SERVED AS A PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT INTERN ON THE COUTURE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TEAM. SOME OF MY MAIN TASKS INCLUDED: ASSISTING MY TEAM WITH JOBS REGARDING THE ORGANIZATION AND MATERIALS OF THE SPRING 2020 COUTURE COLLECTION, RESEARCHING TRENDS, COLORS, AND MATERIALS IN THE CURRENT MARKET, COMPLETING ADMINISTRATIVE AND ORGANIZATIONAL TASKS TO FILE FABRICS, TRIMS, AND LAYERINGS, PREPARING AND CUTTING YARDAGES OF FABRIC TO BE SENT TO PRODUCTION, AND RUNNING ERRANDS AROUND THE NEW YORK CITY GARMENT DISTRICT.

I GAINED SO MUCH KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE DIFFERENT FABRICS, TRIMS, AND EMBROIDERIES THAT GO IN TO A COUTURE EVENING GOWN.

I HAD SO MUCH FUN COMPLETING MY MINI TASKS, AND EVERY DAY WAS DIFFERENT. I LEARNED THAT THE RIGHT FABRIC IS EVERYTHING TO A DESIGN. A GARMENT CAN FLOURISH OR FLOP BASED ON IF THE CORRECT FABRIC WAS USED. THE LAYERINGS OF FABRICS AND TRIMS CAN ENHANCE GARMENTS IN WAYS I NEVER KNEW BEFORE.
